Get to know Pirovac
Pirovac is a picturesque Dalmatian town located in the western part of the Šibenik-Knin County.
Along with Primošten, Vodice and Murter, Pirovac is the most important tourist center of the Šibenik Riviera. Mediterranean climate, indented coast, numerous bays, pebble beaches, warm sea, pine forests and centuries-old olive trees provide all visitors with an idyllic Mediterranean atmosphere.
In front of the 700-year-old town rises a large stone gate that still amazes with its beauty and stability. The gate once had a drawbridge that was erected at night, and today they are reminiscent of the proud historical moments of this small place. Since the Turks never managed to conquer Pirovac in their conquests, the place took the name "Zloselo" (“Evil village”), which is still popular with the locals. On the south side of the Pirovac Bay is the Makirina Bay, a natural beach with healing mud, and near the Vrulje Bay is the islet of Sustipanac, popularly known as the "Island of Love".
Pirovac is only 5 kilometers away from the Nature Park "Vransko jezero", which gathers all passionate fishermen. As true hosts, the people of Pirovac always have home-made herb-brandy, dried figs, crostules and fritters, as well as Dalmatian prosciutto and cheese with quality home-made wine.
